Between 1973 and 1979 the galactic International Congress Centrum (ICC) Berlin was built in the west end boarding on the Grunewald. Strategically situated opposite the central bus station (ZOB) and in the midst of a crossroads of motorways at the former "exit" from Berlin over the AVUS in direction of Dreilinden, the gray metallic building is a landmark of the seventies, ideal for efficient automobile access. is 320m long, 80m wide and 40m hight. With 80 halls of varying sizes, it has a total capacity of 20.000 people. Hall 1, often used for concerts, alone has 5.000 seats. The ICC is one of the most modern convention centers in the world.
The sculpture in front of the main entrance is called "Man building his city". A multilevel bridge connects the ICC directly with the exhibition grounds (Messegelände). |
