The castle "Charlottenburg"

The castle is one of the last baroque buildings possible to visit in Berlin. Since 1695 over 100 years were necessary to reach its modern size and form - all Prussian rulers from Friedrich the first up to Friedrich Wilhelm 4th. got famous artists to run on it.

Because of bomb attacks badly damaged, it was restored after the world war. Today the golden Fortuna, newly built by Richard Scheibe, is laced to its old position on the reconstructed dome. The historical rooms were restored to their original forms and colours. Even the original design with cloth carpets, wainscoting, silkdmsten and ceiling painting was reconstructed.

The popular city park at the castles backside was layed out in 1697 as a French garden and in the beginning of the 19th century transformed to an English garden architecture.

Nowadays the castle puts up the museum for pre- and early history as well as the gallery of the romantic movement. Specific features are the porcelain - cabinet containing the Chinese blue-white porcelain of the Ming-dynasty (14th - 17th century) and examples of the east Asian porcelain art (17th - 18th century).
